Abandoned on an island, a woman grieving the loss of her baby exacts revenge on the powerful man who put her there. The movie is a re-imagining of the stories out of "Punishment Island". A real place in Uganda known to locals as Akampene Island on Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda.
It's better known as "Punishment Island" for its infamous history as a place
where young unmarried, pregnant girls were abandoned to their fate as a form
of punishment for the shame they brought upon their families for getting
pregnant out of wedlock. Director Loukman Ali re-imagines the story for
Netflix. To be released Mar 29, 2023 (now available)
