It was a successful night of Music and Dance for Charity, and headlining the festivities was one of Africa’s biggest artistes Diamond Platnumz. Leaders and dignitaries like Kampala City Chief Executive Jennifer Musisi and many business and government leaders where in attendance.
After opening performances from Uganda’s Cindy Sanyu, Irene Ntale and others, Diamond finally hit the stage at around 10pm. To the surprise of many Diamond initially failed to connect to the Ugandan crowd which simply didn’t understand the Kiswahili in his lesser known songs that he chose to start with.
But all that changed in the second hour from 11 p.m when the momentum picked up as he started performing the songs Ugandans where familiar with. Finally managing to rile up the crowd as the show came to an exciting end at exactly midnight on day one of the Kampala City Festival 17.
All proceeds from the concert will go towards improving KCCA schools to provide better education services in and around the City.
