Hilton Hotel Kampala is now ‘Pearl of Africa Hotel’

The only time anyone ever saw actual Hilton branding on the Aya Group Hotel on Nakasero Hill was for a few weeks in November of 2016, but that branding was taken down as quickly as it got up. Everyone called the unfinished project ‘The Hilton’, but our sources reveal that the Hotel was never officially a ‘Hilton’ in the first place due to a number of factors including its unfinished state.

The Aya project fell short of deadlines and was behind schedule, it powered through a global financial crisis between 2008-2012 and stalled for years after that, until this year 2017 when fresh life was breathed into the project after an acquisition by the Rezidor Hotel Group under a new name, The Pearl of Africa Hotel, Kampala.

In a statement by the Rezidor Hotel group, they said “The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world and a member of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, is very pleased to announce the addition of a new member to its luxury Quorvus Collection: The Pearl of Africa Hotel Kampala, Uganda.”

Activity at the location in Nakasero is now in full gear as the place is being completed and staffed. Staff are being trained by hoteliers flown in from the Quorvus Collection sister hotels who have been in the country for a while now training hotel staff to meet the strict International Quorvus Collection standards of Luxury.

The Hotel will feature 296 Rooms including a 740-Meter Squared Ballroom, 9 Meeting Rooms, 2 Boardrooms and a Business center. There will be an all-day dining restaurant, a sports bar, a pool bar, a private membership gym, a wellness spa, two outdoor swimming pools, one indoor swimming pool, a children’s club, retail shops, tennis, squash and volleyball courts and a grill steak house all opening soon, so watch out for the launch date sometime in the middle of this year.
